Key
Red = > 1280 hits per million population.
Orange = 491-1280 hits per million population.
Yellow = 189-491 hits per million population.
Green = 51.4-189 hits per million population.
Blue = 10.1-51.4 hits per million population.
Violet = < 10.1 hits per million population.
This IUPAC/IUBMB Nomenclature Site now keeps a log of usage statistics composed of the numerical IP address of each computer which logs on in a 24 hour period. The total from 1996 is 234 countries from almost 15000000 records. For the data from 2010 to 2013 (over 4210000 records) an analysis of the IP addresses by geoiplookup identifies the country of origin of over 80% of IP addressses. The data was then normalised by dividing the number of records for each country by the population (in millions) and sorting into rank order. The list was divided into six hexyls which were plotted. Red = top hexyl more than 1280 records per million population; Orange = 491-1280; Yellow = 189-491; Green = 51.4-189; Blue = 10.1-51.4; and Violet = less than 10.1. Uncoloured countries have not been recorded by this database.
From February 1996 to October 2009 the analysis was based on the indicated country code (with about 22% numerical and 20% ending in .net excluded). This data indicated 226 countries from nearly 10700000 records which have been separately plotted.

The usage of each document is also logged. See the summary of statistics for 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. A summary of this data from 1996-2012 is also available. Also data for each country for 1996 to 2012. Any additional countries are listed in the country data with zero users for 1996 to 2012.
