A. Trivially Named Porphyrins

Note The trivial names apply to the tautomeric structures also. See TP-1.1.

Coproporphyrin ICytoporphyrin
Note Type I shown only. See TP-2.2 for "type nomenclature" using Roman numerals.

Deuteroporphyrin Etioporphyrin I
Note 1. Not to be confused with the isotopically labeled compound deuterioporphyrin.

Note 2. Type I shown only. See TP-2.2 for "type nomenclature" using Roman numerals.

Hematoporphyrin Mesoporphyrin
Phylloporphyrin Protoporphyrin
Pyrroporphyrin Rhodoporphyrin
Uroporphyrin IPhytoporphyrin
Note Type I shown only. See TP-2.2 for "type nomenclature" using Roman numerals.

B. Trivially Named Chlorins

Phyllochlorin Phytochlorin
Note Phyllochlorin has been redefined so that it is now the 17,18-dihydro derivative of phylloporphyrin. This chlorin name has formerly been used in the literature to refer to the structure shown, but with a vinyl group in place of the ethyl groups at position 3.

Pyrrochlorin Rhodochlorin
Note Rhodochlorin has been redefined so that it is now the 17,18-dihydro derivative of rhodoporphyrin. This chlorin name has formerly been used in the literature to refer to the structure shown, but with a vinyl group in place of the ethyl group at position 3.

B'. Trivially Named Isobacteriochlorins

Sirohydrochlorin

C. Trivially Named Chlorophylls

Chlorophyll a (R = phytyl)Chlorophyll b (R = phytyl)
Chlorophyll c1Chlorophyll c2
Note In contrast to the other chlorophyll structures, chlorophylls c1 and c2 are unsaturated at positions 17 and 18. Further they are free acids at position 17.

Chlorophyll d (R = phytyl)Bacteriochlorophyll a (R = phytyl)
Bacteriochlorophyll b (R = phytyl)Mesochlorophyll a (R = phytyl)

D. Trivially Named Bilanes
